Samaybaji consists of 11 varieties of delectable dishes that are fit for the gods. A set of Samaybaji includes Chiura (rice flakes), Syaa baji (roasted beaten rice), Musya palu, (soyabean & ginger), Woh(black gram pancake), Haku chhwela (succulent barbequed buff cubes marinated with rare local spices), Bhuti (boiled and stir-fried black-eyed-peas), Aaalu achar (potato cubes marinated with local spices), Gundruk (marinated dried and fermented leafy greens), Khen (boiled-fried egg), Nyaa (fried fish), Aloo tama(potato and fermented bamboo shoots soup).
Samaybaji is generally prepared as an offering during festivals which is later distributed amongst the family. Samay baji is taken as a starter in every auspicious occasion. It is specially eaten during the major festivals like Indra Jatra, Dashain and Tihar. Due to its nutritious value it is often dubbed as farmers snack.
