Harati Mata is the guardian deity of Nepal.
Harati Mata is one of the most significant devi temples of the Kathmandu valley. The temple of Hariti Mata, two story pagaoda decorated with exquisitely artistic motifs pregnant with spiritual significance is located on Swyambhu temple just behind the main Stupa. Hariti mata is considered the guardian deity and protector of children and worshiped by Hinuds as well as Buddists. Locally she is also called "Ajimadya", i.e., Grandmother goddess.
Puja for Hariti mata is offered for the well being of children, especially when they are suffering from the various diseases for quick recovery. It is also believed that puja to Hariti mata provides protection from the evils and black magic.
